Abu Dhabi Government Delegation Explores Singapore’s Best Practices in Digital Governance
An Abu Dhabi government delegation, led by Ahmed Tamim Hisham Al Kuttab, Chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Government Support, recently concluded a three-day visit to Singapore to gain valuable insights into the Republic’s best practices in various areas of priority for the Abu Dhabi government.
During their visit, the delegation engaged in discussions with Singaporean officials regarding digital governance, the effective utilization of public sector data and statistics, capacity building and talent development, and the institutionalization of government services.
Speaking about the visit, Al Kuttab expressed admiration for Singapore’s advancements in the public sector and emphasized the importance of integrating Singapore’s experiences as Abu Dhabi works towards building a government of the future. He highlighted that the visit not only demonstrates Abu Dhabi’s commitment to constant transformation but also celebrates the enduring friendship and mutual respect between the two nations.
Al Kuttab stressed that as Abu Dhabi embarks on major governance transformations, understanding international best practices, particularly those in Singapore, is crucial for their growth and progression. The delegation expressed gratitude to Singapore for their warm hospitality and willingness to share valuable insights during the visit.
The high-ranking delegation from Abu Dhabi comprised officials from key government entities, including the Director General of Strategic Affairs at the Department of Government Support, the Undersecretary of the Department of Government Support, the Director-General of the Human Resources Authority, the Director General of the Abu Dhabi School of Government, the Director-General of TAMM, and the Acting Director of the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi. The delegation was accompanied by the UAE Ambassador to Singapore.
Throughout the three-day visit, the delegation held productive meetings with officials from both the public and private sectors in Singapore. They met with Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information, and Health, and Leo Yip, Head of Civil Service and Permanent Secretary of the Strategy Group in the Prime Minister’s Office, among others. These meetings provided an opportunity for the delegation to explore Singapore’s digital-centric citizen services, data management strategies, and mechanisms for developing the next generation of government leaders.
The delegation also received comprehensive briefings on Singapore’s approach to data and statistics management, which has contributed to the country’s economic and social advancements.
Overall, the Abu Dhabi government delegation gained valuable insights across a wide range of topics during their visit to Singapore. These insights will support Abu Dhabi’s future governance aspirations and plans.
