In a Reddit post, a student shared an extraordinary story of how he managed to ace an exam for a subject he missed all the classes for. He resorted to using several technologies, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT, for which the successful result was a 94%.
The student was required to take a 12-week course with 2-3 hours of lectures each week but unfortunately he was not able to attend them all due to being stuck at home. As a result, the exam had to be tackled on his own and with little time left, he chose to rely on OpenAI’s ChatGPT to help him with the balancing act.
The student spent the first day entering the transcripts of lectures into ChatGPT and ordering it to locate material which would be important for the test. He also asked it to convey the data in a format of listicles. Using a paraphraser, the transcripts were quickly put down to simple phrases which removed any word limits with the shortened words.
Day two was dedicated to more data crunching as the student requested that ChatGPT describe phrases that were warned as necessary points in every lecture, yet exclusively utilizing the course text and summarised transcript. This task just took around five hours.
At long last, day three was about summing up the data supplied by ChatGPT.
OpenAI is an artificial intelligence research laboratory backed by Elon Musk and several other prominent participants. OpenAI’s mission is to ensure that artificial general intelligence (AGI) advantages humans. OpenAI currently focuses on machine learning and on growing technologies based on deep learning, reinforcement learning, evolutionary algorithms, and unsupervised learning. The research team also works on tools designed to make AI more accessible, such as its GPT-3 AI language model.
The story of the student, therefore, is a living example of the potential of AI – that it can be used to compress hard work and time spent in learning efficiently. Despite the lack of classes, and with just a few days remaining, the student put his trust in ChatGPT, ultimately succeeding and achieving a 94%in the exam.
