MosaicML Introduces New Service to Compete with OpenAI on Price

Date:

MosaicML, an artificial intelligence startup led by ex-Intel Corporation executives and academic researchers, just released a pair of new services in the hopes of out-competing the industry’s heavyweights like OpenAI. The San Francisco-based enterprise has so far raised over $64 million, selling a suite of software tools to help organizations craft their own AI-infused solutions at a lower cost.

Their latest endeavor aims to provide developers with an accessible, cost-effective approach to incorporating features like text-generation and image production directly into existing applications. According to Naveen Rao, MosaicML’s chief executive, the firm’s pricing can hit up to 15 times less than that of OpenAI and Anthropic.

To make its program more enticing, MosaicML is offering a rental system alongside options for customers to operate the technology on their own hardware. An extra layer of data protection is included in the latter case, enabling customers to retain ownership of the trained models developed from their own datasets.

MosaicML’s application suite contains the necessary foundations to compete with tech juggernauts like Microsoft and Google. With their new services and customer-oriented approach, they are hoping to carve out a spot of their own in an active industry.
