Using AI to Secure a Job Through LinkedIn

Date:

LinkedIn recently announced a new AI-powered tool, which is set to help job seekers draft and send messages to potential employers. The feature, which has already started rolling out to Premium members, will give users the ability to quickly write a message that encompasses their own profile, the job description, and the company they’re interested in.

Microsoft-owned LinkedIn Senior Director Ora Levit explained that while the message is designed to be a draft, it’s still important for users to take the time to review and edit the draft in order to convey their voice.

However, the introduction of this new AI-powered feature has caused some controversy, with some people questioning whether the AI-generated message should carry a disclaimer and whether LinkedIn should enforce a policy whereby users must change part of the message before sending it.

The announcement of this AI-powered tool is unsurprising given Microsoft’s multi-billion dollar investments in OpenAI, the startup behind ChatGPT. OpenAI is an artificial intelligence research lab with a mission to promote beneficial and safe artificial general intelligence.

This AI-powered tool is a great addition to LinkedIn’s suite of products, which also includes job search, recruiter search and a users recruiting automation platform. LinkedIn is an incredibly powerful tool for job seekers and together with this new AI-powered message tool, it is set to become an even more valuable and helpful resource for those looking for work.

Given the importance of human interaction in professional networking, this AI-powered tool is not intended to be a substitute for personalized communication, but rather a tool to help boost confidence of those seeking jobs.
