Samsung Imposes Ban on Staff Following Privacy Breach

Date:

Samsung has implemented a company-wide ban forbidding its staff from using artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT or any other similar tools. This decision came after an exposed privacy mistake where employees in one of the company’s largest divisions uploaded internal source code to ChatGPT’s servers. A number of U.S. banks previously banned ChatGPT for the same privacy concerns.

The South Korean electronics giant has prohibited the use of generative AI on phones, computers, tablets as well as its internal network. Moreover, Samsung also reviewed a recommendation to its employees to avoid feeding any company information to ChatGPT.

Samsung, founded in 1938 by Lee Byung-chul in Daegu, South Korea, is one of the world’s largest technological companies. From smartphones and tablets to wearable technology such as the latest smartwatch, Samsung has been known world-wide and is loved by consumers.

Among its leadership is the founding family and Chairman Lee Kun-hee, who has since been the driving-force behind Samsung’s global success. He has made sure that the company follows an innovation-based approach, investing heavily in research and development to create new products every year. His leadership has shaped the company and taken Samsung to the top of global business while also making sure that Samsung’s products match its customers’ expectations.
