AI Chatbot Technology in South Korean Enterprises

Samsung Electronics has taken the decision to ban its employees from using generative artificial intelligence services such as ChatGPT in the company’s mobile and appliances division. This comes after the technology was reportedly misused.

Since the ChatGPT debuted in late November, the world has seen a surge in the number of people interested in AI chatbots. It has been on the rise due to its capabilities of generating essays, songs, exams and even news articles.

Before the decision to implement the ban, Samsung had set up an internal task force led by its Chief Information Officer Nam Yoon-sung to monitor the use of the AI service by their employees.

Additionally, the company’s Digital Health Innovation Center was also working on rolling out policies and guidelines to help prevent further misuse of ChatGPT.

Nam Yoon-sung is the Chief Information Officer of Samsung Electronics. He was appointed to lead the task force to monitor the use of ChatGPT by employees. As the AI service had reportedly been used for inappropriate purposes, Nam has focused on implementing external policies and guidelines to ensure that employees do not misuse the technology.
