Tech CEO Investing Over Two Thousand Dollars in ChatGPT for All Employees

Date:

Artificial intelligence is becoming more and more prevalent as it finds its way into the workplace. Akash Nigam, the CEO of web3 avatar startup Genies, has taken a big bet on this AI technology, spending over $2,000 per month for his 120 employees to use the ChatGPT Plus subscription. According to Insider, these receipts come from March when Nigam began advocating for the use of the chatbot in order to improve efficiency and profitability for the company.

Nigam claims that the use of ChatGPT has already paid off for Genies, resulting in faster workflows. His research and development team, in particular, has been using it to debug code. Impressively, employees who are less experienced and skilled can complete their tasks up to 35% faster when using the chatbot.

Amazon, however, has cautioned its employees to not share corporate code with ChatGPT as it could be used to train future iterations of the chatbot. Xtekky, a European computer science student, has also developed a free workaround to ChatGPT Plus on GitHub that allows for unlimited access, however OpenAI is currently threatening a lawsuit if he does not remove the project.

Generally, studies have shown that AI like ChatGPT can succeed in the workplace when used correctly. While avoiding the debate on its ethicality, it’s clear that Akash Nigam has taken a strong stance in terms of investing in this technology to improve the effectiveness of Genies.

Genies is a web3 avatar startup created by Akash Nigam, a Canadian entrepreneur who has worked as a product manager at Microsoft and as a venture partner at Andreessen Horowitz. He’s also the author of Classifying Coffee, a guide to understanding the complexities of brewed coffee. His investment in ChatGPT Plus reflects his commitment to staying at the cutting edge of new technologies and providing his employees the necessary tools for success.
