Safety and Rescue Boosted with Trained Dogs and AI-powered Systems in Goa Beaches

Date:

Goa Beaches are set to introduce a new and innovative security measure – Trained Dogs, Two AI-powered Systems for Safety and Rescue Operations. The number of trained dogs being deployed is 11, named ‘paw squad’. These dogs will be trained to go out and find and rescue people who are in distress while they are at the beach, including missing children. This is the first such effort in the whole of Asia and will be the first time something like this will be done in India.

Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has welcomed this innovation and he believes more modern technologies should be put into place for such purposes. This move is being made by Drishti Marine, an agency which has been tasked with lifesaving operations in the coastal state. Along with the trained dogs, two AI-powered systems called Aurus and Triton will be used to help the lifesavers.

Aurus is a self-driving robot while Triton is an AI-powered monitoring system that will help beach safety and rescue operations. Currently, Aurus is being piloted at Miramar Beach in North Goa and Triton is being tested at various beaches in Goa. Eventually, these systems will be rolled out across 100 beaches in Goa with 100 units of Triton and 10 Aurus units.

Drishti Marine is an expert beach management service, founded by Murad Qureshi and Dr. Kumar N. Reddy in the year 2000. They have since provided security, lifesaving and advanced technology services to governments, defence forces and different private companies across India. For the beach safety systems in Goa, they are providing the manpower and technology needed to ensure the safety of beachgoers.
