ChatGPT Unveils New Incognito Mode

Date:

OpenAI, a technology company focused on general artificial intelligence, has recently announced its new “Incognito” mode to enhance the privacy of its users with the latest ChatGPT software. With this new update, users can have control over which conversations are stored, as well as what is used in the training sets for AI models. By doing this, OpenAI hopes to attract more companies which handle sensitive data and show that user privacy is a priority for them.

OpenAI first rose to prominence with the launch of ChatGPT, an AI tool used for text-based conversations. This model uses large amount of data to generate its responses, leading the company to collect more data from its users. This has caused a lot of controversy, as companies can potentially access their code and data with the use of ChatGPT. As a result, the Italian authorities banned the software in April 2021 due to privacy concerns.

To address this issue, OpenAI has released the Incognito mode, which users can enable if they want to avoid any of their conversations being used for AI training sets. The chat history for conversations with this mode switched on will be stored for a maximum of 30 days, aimed to be solely monitored for any potential abuse. Additionally, OpenAI is also introducing a Business subscription plan, which will give more security to professionals and allow them a more granular control over their data.

OpenAI was founded in 2015 and is backed by number of high-profile investors, including Microsoft and Y Combinator. It is well known for its work on general artificial intelligence and has achieved great success with GPT-4 and its successors. Its founder, Elon Musk, is a world-renowned entrepreneur, engineer and investor, with his name synonymous with advances in groundbreaking technologies, such as SpaceX, Tesla Motors and The Boring Company. He currently serves as OpenAI’s Co-Chairman.
