OpenAI’s cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) tool ‘ChatGPT’ has reportedly been used by some people to secretly take up a second job while maintaining their primary job. Vice’s Motherboard interviewed a few workers to uncover their unique experiences with the AI solution. The workers highlighted the rise of ‘overemployment’, which first hit the radar after the pandemic gave remote work to many individuals leading to taking up multiple jobs to increase their income.
Ben (not his real name) who works as a marketing executive for multiple financial-technology companies, is one of the individuals who credited ChatGPT as the nodal point for being able to work double shifts. According to Ben, he eventually decided to get a second job with the extra time his ChatGPT’s AI program allowed him, making it easier for him to complete tasks faster. Earlier this year, Ben was even able to get an additional job with the help of the AI tool due to GPT-4, an improved version of the AI model which is the foundation of ChatGPT.
Ben told Vice that ChatGPT does 80% of his job; “I can just tell it to create a story, and it just does it for me, based on the context that I gave it,” he said. “But I still have to tweak the text sometimes.”
In a nutshell, ChatGPT’s AI program has not only allowed Ben to save time but has provided him with the ability to take up extra jobs which have naturally increased income.
