Domestic Innovation Boosted by ChatGPT’s Growing Popularity

Date:

ChatGPT, an AI-powered tool backed by Microsoft, has risen to the top of tech trends, helping to catalyze a surge in natural language processing (NLP) development in China. While the underlying technologies of this exciting tool may not be completely new, it is a testament for the rapid ascension of AI’s development. In light of this, Zhou Yu, the Chairman of Beijing Fanyu Technology Co. Ltd, has suggested niche markets and personalized services as ways to bolster Chinese NLP development.

Fanyu Technology was established in 2018 with the help of the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Automation. Since then, the company has provided NLP products and services to over 100 customers ranging from medical care to aviation, with clients such as Boeing. Taking into account the Chinese government’s recent prioritization of AI and the digital economy, this market segment could expand significantly in the upcoming years.

The Chinese NLP market faces a number of obstacles, however. The primary bottleneck is a shortage of data resources and the deficiency of free data flow. To overcome this, Zhou believes that the pooling of quality resources and joint efforts to replicate core technologies in this field must increase. Simultaneously, the collection and labeling of data must also be streamlined and improved.

Beijing Fanyu Technology is a well-known provider of NLP products and services. Founded in 2018, the company is backed by the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences and provides their NLP products and services to customers in the fields of education, aviation, and medical care, including high-profile names such as Boeing.
