Open IA, founded by Elon Musk, has developed this technology capable of having conversations in any language, generating texts and answering questions independently. We have put it to the test to see if it can help in the repair of a car, although the correct thing is to rely on the human touch of a mechanical workshop.

However, it was also clear that not all automotive tasks can be solved without the help of a professional, as for some of these tasks we need special tools. This is the case of brakes or car batteries, although for simpler jobs like changing windshield wipers, it is possible to do the work without prior knowledge or special tools.
Celso Besoli, president of the Guild of Mechanical Workshops of Barcelona, explains that, despite the detailed instructions ChatGPT can provide, it is necessary to be prepared and some tasks must be supervised by a professional such as focusing the lamp correctly. Likewise, it is not possible to connect the car to the diagnostic machine, which is an essential part of the auto repair process.
On the other hand, Rogelio Cuesta, vice president of CETRAA and president of the employers’ association in Asturias, believes that it is still better to rely on professionals to solve the repairs of our car, given the importance of the security that this entails. Therefore, both of them propose to be very careful when following the tutorials of Youtube and TakeGPT, as the information can be dangerous for car repair since it does not follow the necessary protocol.
Open IA has been a success in the market since its launch and its ChatGPT tool has made a great contribution to the automation of processes, especially in the field of communication and language. Although it has helped enormously in understanding and solving certain problems, it still cannot replace the human aspect when it comes to car repair. For this reason, in the event of a vehicle breakdown, the best thing is to continue relying on the best mechanical workshops and not to risk uncomplicated tutorials or the advances of a machine alone.
