NTUC LearningHub (NTUC LHUB) and the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS) have joined hands to develop the Certified Travel Professional (CTP) programme, aimed at enhancing the skills and capabilities of professionals in the travel industry. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during the NATAS Travel Fair 2024, solidifying their commitment to equipping individuals with the necessary knowledge to thrive in a dynamic and competitive market.
This groundbreaking partnership seeks to support travel agents in adapting to the evolving demands of the industry and building a more resilient and dynamic travel sector in Singapore. By leveraging NTUC LHUB’s expertise in providing tailored training and NATAS’ extensive network of member travel agencies, the CTP programme is set to become a game-changer in the local travel industry.
The CTP programme will cater to a diverse group of professionals, including aspiring travel consultants, experienced agents, career switchers, and those looking to specialize in niche areas such as corporate travel management or eco-tourism. The curriculum will consist of core modules, general electives, and specialized electives, focusing on key areas such as Sales and Marketing Strategies, Sustainability, Emerging Technology, Wellness, and Service Experience Excellence.
Participants will be required to complete three modules to attain the CTP Certification – a core module on effective strategies for travel professionals, an elective module covering topics like service excellence, sustainability, or technology, and a specialized elective module in either corporate travel or leisure travel track. Upon successful completion of the programme, learners will be granted the Certified Travel Professional – Corporate Travel, Leisure Travel, or Corporate and Leisure Travel certification, depending on their chosen specialization.
The initiative aligns with NATAS’ objective of enhancing the quality and professionalism of the travel sector in Singapore by fostering innovation and creating new roles aligned with market needs. It also builds on NTUC LHUB’s commitment to developing courses in emerging areas such as sustainability, technological enablers, and service excellence, as evidenced by their ongoing partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board.
The CTP programme is scheduled to commence in March 2025 with an initial intake of 10 learners. Facilitated by a panel of experienced professionals in the travel industry, the programme aims to not only provide essential skills to professionals but also create a platform for effective networking and knowledge exchange among travel professionals. NTUC LHUB will oversee the management of the modules, with certification awarded by NATAS.
This collaboration between NTUC LearningHub and NATAS marks a significant step towards enhancing the professionalism and standards of the travel industry in Singapore. By equipping professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge, the CTP programme is poised to elevate the industry and support its continuous growth and innovation, positioning Singapore as a leading global travel destination.
