Google AI Catching Up With OpenAI’s ChatGPT by Writing Code

Date:

Google has recently announced that they have made another step in the development of their AI chatbot, Bard. Bard is the company’s attempt to catch up with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which was the first to introduce the AI chatbot on the market. The new set of updates to Bard will allow it to code and debug software in over 20 different programming languages such as Python, Javascript and Java. In addition to this, it will be able to export Python code directly to Google Collab – no need for copy and paste. Further to this, Bard will be able to explain why it has generated the code it has. This is incredibly helpful for people who may not be well-versed in coding but have knowledge of the basics and would like to add snippets of code to websites.

Bard is still in its early stages and can’t guarantee that the code it generates will work, however, the development of such technology is incredibly inspiring for people who want to unleash their creativity with technology. Paige Bailey, Group Product Manager of Google Research, commented “Bard is already helping people with everyday tasks, from crafting presentations and writing lesson plans to inventing new recipes or planning a workout routine. With new coding capabilities, we’re excited to apply generative AI to accelerate software development, inspire innovation, and help people solve complex engineering challenges.”

Google is an American multinational technology company that specializes in Internet-related services and products, which include online advertising technologies, search engine, cloud computing, software and hardware. It is one of the most valuable companies which are the most visited website in the world, as of April 2021.
