YouTube Premium is currently testing a new feature known as the Sleep Timer, which allows users to automatically pause video playback if they fall asleep while watching a video. This experimental feature is exclusively available for premium users and will only be accessible for a limited time. YouTube will then decide whether to roll out this feature globally.
In addition to the Sleep Timer, YouTube is also experimenting with a new AI tool powered by Gemini. This tool will enable content creators to generate video outlines based on text prompts, as well as receive video title and thumbnail suggestions.
To use the Sleep Timer feature, YouTube Premium users must manually enable experimental features before accessing it. Users can do this by going to Settings on the home page and selecting try experimental new features. This feature will only be available until September 2.
By accessing the settings menu within the YouTube app, users can set the Sleep Timer to pause playback after 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, or 60 minutes. There is also an option to stop auto playback once the video ends. This feature is currently exclusive to YouTube Premium users.
The Sleep Timer feature is a convenient addition for users who enjoy watching videos before bed but want to avoid having the video play all night or draining their device’s battery.
