Android 14 Wishlist – AI Shortcuts, Foldable Perks and More

Date:

Android users are waiting with bated breath for the next major update to their operating system and Google is yet to announce the features that will be included in the new version, Android 14. It is rumored, however, that the update will bring enhancements to existing features as well as new ones like support for the PS5 DualSense controller and a new cloning feature for multiple accounts. These are all welcome changes, but Google could go a step further and integrate AI, wearables and foldables into their operating system.

AI is quickly becoming a central player in many app and technology companies, and Google should look to not only enhance existing AI capabilities and tools, such as Google Assistant, but also use the power of AI to enable apps to respond to queries with more speed and precision. A new concierge feature in Android 14 could be incredibly helpful in managing users’ daily tasks. Additionally, the impressive Health Connect feature that was unveiled at the I/O 2022 event should be more deeply integrated into Android 14.

Android 14 could take the phone experience to the next level, with the ability to switch calls and activities between devices seamlessly. Apple is already Steps Ahead of Google in this regard, making use of all its connected devices, and it’s high time that Android does the same. For this, Google could use their Matter smart home platform, providing support for existing Amazon, Apple and other devices, as well as making setup easier for users.

Android 13 had kickstarted the idea of forked versions designed for large screen devices like tablets and foldables. Android 14 could take this idea further, adding utility and features that make the most of large screens and flexible displays. Device makers’ endeavors on the foldable front are also growing each year, and Google may have an opportunity to light up these developments with a few compelling features in the new Android operating system.

Finally, one of the most anticipated features among Android users is faster rollouts of new updates to their phones. Most notably, Samsung phones are the first to get the most recent Android updates, though it takes Motorola phones more than a year. Android 14 should maximize its reach by coming to non-Google phones faster, as well as extending unique Pixel features to other Android devices.

Google has been changing the way people interact with technology over the past few years and one can expect that the upcoming Android 14 update will further facilitate convenience and efficiency in both phones and larger devices. We’ll have to wait and see how Google takes on this challenge when it releases the new version later this year.
