Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur, recently asserted that India’s software product industry is projected to reach USD 100 billion by 2025. Addressing students at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Thakur discussed the prospects of the IT industry and the employment opportunities it has offered. He mentioned that IT industry had added 4.45 lakh jobs in the previous fiscal year, and is expected to grow further with emerging technologies like cloud computing, data analytics, artificial intelligence and cyber security.
In order to reap the benefits of such advancements, the union minister urged IT professionals to be flexible and work remotely. Tamil Nadu, with its reputation as a high-skilled IT hub, is expected to continue leading the way in the global IT industry.
Anurag Thakur also addressed the young audience in Tamil, encouraging them to participate in sports and learn about C V Raman, who was a renowned Indian scientist. He stated that leading a healthy lifestyle is essential to bring out the best in oneself.
Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development is a training institute founded in 1999 to promote youth-related research, development and programmes. It is under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The institute provides training to strengthen the overall personality and capabilities of the youth, enabling them with the skills to face the future.
