The Parliamentary system has been underscored by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz as a crucial component ensuring people’s representation within the government structure. In her address marking the International Day of Parliamentary System of Government, the Chief Minister emphasized the significance of parliament as the cornerstone of democracy, safeguarding the principles of justice and equality.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz highlighted that the parliamentary system serves as a vital mechanism for facilitating transparency, accountability, and citizen representation in governance. She urged all citizens to actively participate in fortifying the parliamentary form of government, acknowledging the pivotal role played by members of the National Assembly and provincial assemblies.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Maryam mentioned the establishment of the Parliamentary Development Unit and a Research Center in the Punjab Assembly, aimed at aiding MPs in fulfilling their responsibilities in adherence to democratic principles. Additionally, in line with her vision for public welfare, the registration process for ‘Dastak’ representatives has been initiated, providing employment opportunities for numerous youths across Punjab.
Under the ‘Maryam Ki Dastak Program,’ services will be extended to households, reducing the need for multiple visits to various offices. The initiative, which seeks to eliminate corruption and exploitation, will harness the potential of information technology and artificial intelligence to enhance public service delivery.
The Chief Minister outlined the eligibility criteria for aspiring ‘Dastak’ representatives, including minimum educational qualifications, possession of essential documents, and completion of mandatory training. Notably, selected representatives will have the opportunity to earn a dignified income while serving their communities through the provision of ‘Dastak’ services.
With a commitment to fostering digital innovation and enhancing citizen convenience, Punjab is embarking on a transformative journey towards a more inclusive and efficient governance model. Through strategic initiatives like the ‘Dastak Program,’ the province aims to empower its youth and elevate service standards for the benefit of all residents.
