Thai Business Leaders Prioritize AI Skills Over Work Experience

Date:

The adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) is projected to have a limited impact on employment in Thailand, with less than 4% of workers in the service sector facing a high risk of being replaced by AI technology, as per a report by Kasikorn Research Center.

Although the risk is low, a survey conducted by Microsoft and LinkedIn revealed that 74% of business leaders in Thailand would not consider hiring candidates who lack AI skills. Moreover, the study found that 92% of knowledge workers in the country are currently utilizing AI in their roles, with 81% using AI tools of their choice. An overwhelming 91% of Thai business leaders believe that integrating AI is crucial for maintaining competitiveness.

In light of these findings, it is evident that AI skills are gaining importance in the workforce, with 90% of Thai leaders preferring candidates with AI expertise over those with more traditional work experience. This shift underscores the need for upskilling and reskilling initiatives to equip employees with the necessary AI competencies to thrive in the evolving job market.
