Google has announced major advancements in bringing artificial intelligence (AI) to the field of education at their ISTELive 24 edtech conference. These initiatives aim to enhance educational experiences for teachers and students worldwide.

Gemini, an AI-powered tool, will now be available for free to teenagers with Workspace for Education school accounts in over 100 countries. This tool, based on Google’s LearnLM language model, allows educators to assign tailored content to student groups through Google Classroom.

Additionally, Google is introducing new features like Read Along, an AI tool within Google Workspace for Education that aids students in improving their reading comprehension. This tool is being tested to create customized stories for individual student needs, with plans to expand its language support beyond English to include Spanish.

Moreover, Google is launching the Chromebook Plus PX131GXT, a new model designed specifically for educational purposes and priced at $350. This device will support Gemini, offering enhanced AI capabilities to students and teachers.

In a bid to further assist educators, Google is rolling out Google Vids, a collaborative video creation app for Google Workspace. The company also unveiled various updates across its education products, including improved Classroom assignment tracking, Google Meet integrations with learning management systems, new Classroom add-ons, student safety features in Google Chat, and enhanced accessibility features like handwriting fonts and Read Aloud in Reading Mode.
