Bitkraft Ventures Expanding Into Asia for Game Investments

Date:

Bitkraft Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on gaming investments, is expanding to Asia. Driven by the size of the Asian gaming market, as well as rising entrepreneurial activity in the gaming industry in the region, the firm has taken on two highly experienced professionals from the gaming industry to lead the effort.

Jin Oh, who was formerly the president of worldwide publishing at Riot Games, CEO of Garena (Sea Ltd.) and managing director at Blizzard Entertainment, has been appointed Bitkraft’s partner and will helm the venture capital firm’s business in the region. He will be joined by Jonathan Huang, who will serve as a principal. Huang previously worked at Sea Capital and Temasek.

Bitkraft Ventures, which has around $600 million in assets under management, operates four venture funds and had over 100 portfolio companies globally at the last count. It has a proven track record in the Asian market, with investments in Tier1, Nerdystar and Tatsumeeko.

Apart from the newly appointed Oh and Huang, the firm has promoted Jasper Brand to partner and Justin Swart to principal. Brand was a founding member of the venture capital firm since 2017, and has been involved in various investments including Frost Giant Studios, Inworld AI and Theorycraft Games. He will focus on Bitkraft’s game studio strategy, emerging opportunities in AI and UGC and overall US coverage. Swart will be responsible for Bitkraft’s Web 3 investments and cover the Africa region.

Bitkraft Ventures seeks to invest in promotional and interactive gaming startups in Asia utilizing both Web2 and Web3 gaming. With this new expansion to Asia, the venture capital firm hopes to identify and invest in promising gaming companies in the region. It’s a team that is well placed to become the leading gaming venture capital firm in Asia.
