OpenAI Set to Launch AI-Powered Search Engine Rivalling Google
OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is gearing up to introduce its very own artificial intelligence-driven search engine that will directly compete with Google. Reports from Bloomberg and The Information reveal that OpenAI’s upcoming search engine is positioned to take on Google and Perplexity, another AI-based search engine.
Although OpenAI has not officially confirmed these reports, it is known that the company, with the backing of Microsoft, is making significant strides in this direction.
As of now, Google reigns supreme in the realm of internet search engines. However, Reuters suggests that OpenAI could make the big announcement just a day before Google’s annual meeting, scheduled for next Tuesday, where Google is expected to unveil new AI-centric products.
According to Bloomberg, OpenAI’s new search engine will build upon the existing capabilities of ChatGPT, allowing the chatbot to source information and references directly from the vast expanse of data available on the internet.
While ChatGPT has gained popularity since its debut in late 2022, with approximately 100 million active users each month, it has faced challenges in offering precise and real-time information from the internet. OpenAI had previously integrated Bing’s search engine with artificial intelligence, a feature available to paying users.
