Chinese startup Shengshu Technology, in collaboration with Tsinghua University, has recently introduced a groundbreaking artificial intelligence tool called Vidu. This innovative AI tool has the ability to convert text prompts into short videos, similar to the popular tool Sora developed by OpenAI.
However, Vidu sets itself apart by offering a unique feature – the capability to generate 1080p resolution videos from simple text prompts, albeit with a duration limit of 16 seconds. In comparison, Sora can create 60-second-long clips. Zhu Jun, the chief scientist at Shengshu and deputy dean at Tsinghua’s Institute for AI, proudly presented Vidu at the Zhongguancun Forum in Beijing, highlighting its self-reliant innovation and numerous breakthroughs.
During the launch event, several clips were showcased to demonstrate Vidu’s capabilities, including a scene featuring a panda playing a guitar on grass and another one showing a puppy swimming in a pool. Zhu Jun described Vidu as an imaginative tool that can effectively simulate the physical world, showcasing its potential to revolutionize the way we create and consume video content.
With Vidu’s impressive features and unique video generation capacity, it is poised to make a significant impact in the AI technology landscape, challenging the dominance of established players like Sora. As the Chinese startup continues to refine and develop Vidu, it will be interesting to see how this innovative tool shapes the future of video content creation.
