Nothing Phone (2) and Ear Get ChatGPT Upgrades in New Update
Nothing, the UK-based startup, recently launched the Nothing Ear and Ear (a) last week, along with the release of the Nothing OS 2.5.5 update for the Phone (2). This firmware update brings various enhancements and features to the handset, including a hands-free gesture to activate ChatGPT with the noise-canceling earbuds.
One of the key features of the update is the ability to initiate voice conversations with the ChatGPT chatbot through the Nothing earbuds. This functionality is currently available for the Ear and Ear (a) models, with future support planned for other Nothing headphones.
Users can now add a ChatGPT widget to the lock screen for easier access and utilize a new button shortcut for the screenshot and clipboard tools. Additionally, the Phone (2) now supports Ultra XDR on the native camera app, offering improved dynamic range and size compression for photos.
The update also introduces a new HDR switcher in the camera app’s photo and portrait modes, allowing users to toggle HDR settings easily. Furthermore, a Ring mode shortcut has been added to the quick settings panel for convenient access.
Performance improvements come in the form of a RAM Booster feature, designed to boost memory through virtual RAM. Nothing has also addressed system optimization and bug fixes in the latest update, resolving issues such as flickering in always-on mode and app launches via quick settings.
It is worth noting that the firmware release is being rolled out in a staggered manner, so availability may vary depending on the region or carrier of the Phone (2). Overall, the update delivers significant upgrades to the Nothing Phone (2) and Ear devices, enhancing functionality and user experience.
