The workshop, themed Developing the High-Level Strategy and Implementation Plan for a National AI Strategy for Nigeria, aims to formulate comprehensive resolutions and strategies for the adoption and deployment of AI in the country. Participants, including representatives from the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), are encouraged to contribute towards developing a national AI strategy that reflects the nation’s diverse expertise and consensus.

Kashifu Abdullahi, the Director-General of NITDA, highlighted the transformative potential of AI beyond its technological aspects. He underscored the importance of leveraging AI to diversify Nigeria’s economy and drive economic growth. Abdullahi encouraged participants to view AI as a tool for developing strategies that promote economic diversification and innovation across various sectors.
