Korea and the European Union (EU) have joined forces to embark on a series of collaborative research ventures focusing on cutting-edge semiconductor and next-generation communication network technologies over the next three years. The Ministry of Science and ICT in Seoul recently announced this ambitious partnership between Korea and the EU.
As part of this agreement, the two entities are set to invest a total of 12 million euros (approximately $12.98 million) to advance neuromorphic computing and the heterogeneous integration of semiconductors by the year 2027. In addition, a substantial allocation of 5 million euros will be channeled towards enhancing fifth and sixth-generation network technologies.
Looking beyond these areas, Korea and the EU are also gearing up to broaden their collaboration to cover artificial intelligence, quantum technology, and cybersecurity. This move signifies a strategic alignment between the two regions in pursuit of innovation and technological development.
The newfound partnership holds promise for significant advancements in the realms of semiconductor technology and communication networks, with a potential ripple effect across various industries. By pooling their expertise and resources, Korea and the EU aim to foster a mutually beneficial relationship that will drive progress and innovation on a global scale.
