Has Netskope Ended the Era of VPNs?

Date:

Netskope is looking to revolutionize the way we access the internet with their new product, ZTNA Next. This new product seeks to solve the problems that have been seen in legacy VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) by providing a converged Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and SD-WAN (Software-defined Wide Area Network) solution that doesn’t require additional hardware. According to Netskope, the solution promises organizations a complete retirement of remote access VPNs, while at the same time reducing costs and complexity of security deployments.

John Grady of Enterprise Strategy Group claims that while ZTNA has been a great tool for security organizations, there has been a lack of coverage in use cases such as on-prem VoIP applications. ZTNA Next aims to solve this issue by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI)-operated operations with automated troubleshooting and various insights. Furthermore, the product promises to protect data anywhere, by continuously evaluating context and adapting in real-time.

Netskope says that ZTNA Next will be generally available later this year. People that use legacy technologies such as VPNs have waited for a product like this for a long time, and Netskope is confident that their new product will be the savior they were waiting for. Organizations can finally migrate to cloud-built solutions that not only promise to provide full replacement for legacy VPNs but also provide more scalability and efficiency.
