Volkswagen Unveils Powerful ID Buzz GTX Variant with Impressive Performance Upgrades

Date:

Volkswagen is stepping up its game in the electric vehicle market with the introduction of a new, high-performance version of its popular ID Buzz model. The newly unveiled GTX variant is the most powerful iteration of the Bulli van to date, boasting an impressive 340hp thanks to a new 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.

The sleek and futuristic ID Buzz GTX can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in just 6.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 99mph – a significant improvement over the standard model. What’s more, Volkswagen is offering the GTX in both standard and long wheelbase options, providing flexibility for transporting five to seven passengers at higher speeds.

Under the hood, the GTX features an 80kW front motor and a 210kW rear motor, delivering not only enhanced performance but also a higher towing capacity of up to 1,800kg. Inside, subtle design changes include a black headliner, red stitching on the seats and steering wheel, and GTX badging throughout.

The model is also equipped with the latest infotainment technology from the VW Group, including a 12.9-inch touchscreen system with an illuminated touch bar and optional head-up display. The integration of ChatGPT and improvements to the IDA voice assistant enhance user experience and functionality.

While Volkswagen has not disclosed exact pricing details, the base model starts at around £59,000, indicating that the GTX variant will come at a premium. Charging from 0-80% in just 26 minutes with DC fast chargers, the GTX is expected to offer improved range compared to the standard model’s 258-mile figure.

Despite the excitement surrounding the high-performance GTX variant, some users may find range limitations to be a drawback, especially during long trips. The ID Buzz’s electric range may be impacted by its weight and aerodynamic efficiency, posing challenges for extended travels.
