It may only be a few short months before you never have to worry about making a fool of yourself in international Microsoft Teams calls again. The video conferencing tool has announced an update to its already-available Live Translated Captions service that will be available to mobile and smartphone users for the first time.
Android and iOS users will be able to join their Teams calls and choose captions in any language of their choice, making global calls much easier to understand.
The feature is currently in development, but is set for release by August 2023 and will be part of the higher-tier and paid for Microsoft Teams Premium. This expansion follows other recent advancements coming to the platform such as intelligent translation for mobile users and a network of professional interpreters for when real-time interpretation is needed. Microsoft has also adopted Z-Code AI technology to make its production translation models significantly better, ensuring quality from now on.
