Kaspersky Study Finds Over Half of Single Men Would Use ChatGPT to Mislead Potential Dates

Date:

When it comes to the world of online dating, there is a need for caution since technology has opened up new possibilities of deceit. According to a study by Kaspersky, an overwhelming majority of single men would consider using ChatGPT, an AI tool that has taken the world by storm, to deceive potential dates. Over half (54%) of the single men surveyed admitted to positive views on ChatGPT and would use it to make themselves appear more interesting or smart.

The findings of the survey, titled “Date or DAIte?”, are part of a research that looked at how AI and ChatGPT, in particular, are influencing the dating scene. It was discovered that of all online dating app users, 75% would take advantage of ChatGPT in order to find the perfect conversation starter. What’s more, 51% of women who took the survey answered they would use the AI to speak to more than one potential partner at the same time.

On the other hand, the survey raised some issues as to the possibility of a new AI-based catfishing era. According to the results, 57% of the participants found using ChatGPT in an online dating setting to be dishonest. Outer Circle, a global dating app, put the reports in words by Crystal Cansdale. According to her, the pressure on people to be original in the continuous choice of single people in the dating scene has resulted in dating becoming a mere numbers game.

The survey further found that, surprisingly, only 37% of those who answered would be open to using ChatGPT to improve their profiles. David Emm, Kaspersky’s Global Research and Analysis Team Principal Security Researcher, said that the tool might look harmless but he warned that not everyone uses it with good intentions. He further noted that photo doctoring has made it easier to pretend to be someone else and bring people into unpleasant situations.
