Businessman Elon Musk recently announced his plan to create an alternative to ChatGPT, the popular artificial intelligence “bot.” He believes the current AI systems are too “politically correct” and seeks to create a new kind of AI called “TruthGPT” that will understand the true nature of the universe and be less likely to destroy humanity.
Musk has a history of investing in artificial intelligence, though his involvement with OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT, ended in 2018. He was credited with coining the name Open AI and he is adamantly against its close ties with Microsoft, headed by Bill Gates, who musk believes to have limited understanding of AI systems.
He further contended that AI could be potentially more dangerous than cars or rockets and that rules should be put in place for AI programs and discussions. In addition, he founded the company X.AI Corp in the state of Nevada, alongside a business partner, in March 2021.
OpenAI, a for-profit company, responded by saying that Musk left his involvement to eliminate any conflict of interest due to Tesla’s own involvement with automated driving systems. During his conversation with Tucker Carlson on Fox News, Musk also noted how certain AI “bots” harnessed information from various sources on the internet; the creators of these programs employed filters to prevent offensive answers.
This conversation with Tucker Carlson is only the first part of a two-part discussion; most recently, Musk discussed the left-wing bias of certain AI, a marked departure from his prior comments.
