In an unfortunate incident in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, a 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting and molesting a 7-year-old child. The incident took place on Monday afternoon, February 12, 2024.
According to reports, the suspect, who claimed to have a learning disability and be a person with a disability (PWD), was apprehended by Lapu-Lapu police following a complaint from the child’s parents. The investigation revealed that the child was walking home from school when he encountered the suspect, who forcefully dragged him into an abandoned house.
Once inside, the suspect reportedly punched the victim’s stomach, choked his neck, and forced him to lie down while the suspect lay on top of him. Fortunately, the child managed to convince the suspect to release him by offering to pay him P100. After escaping, the child rushed home and informed his parents about the horrifying incident.
The parents promptly reported the incident to the police, who promptly arrested the suspect. During an interview with DYSS Super Radyo, the suspect admitted to the crime but claimed that he was unaware of his actions.
In his statement, the suspect expressed remorse and apologized to the parents of the victim. He also pleaded with them to refrain from pursuing charges against him. However, the police stated that the suspect would face child abuse charges.
