Elon Musk Announces Development of New Chatbot Platform: TruthGPT

Date:

In his interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Monday, entrepreneur and technology mogul Elon Musk laid out his vision for a third big player in the field of AI technology, one he dubbed “TruthGPT.” According to Musk, the project is aimed at creating a maximum truth-seeking AI that could potentially understand the nature of the universe. In addition to this, Elon Musk expressed his dislike for the OpenAI project, which he co-founded in 2015 and stepped down from in 2018, stating that anecdotal evidence suggests that their AI models have been trained to be “politically correct” and “woke.”

It appears that Musk may be already making some movements towards his TruthGPT project, as he has set up a company called “X.AI” and has reportedly been reaching out to AI researchers to join the venture. Musk has also recently been pushing for the governments around the world to start creating regulations for AI technology due to the potential of ‘civilizational destruction’ it holds if mismanaged, and has signed an open letter with 500 other experts asking for a 6 month moratorium on AI system development.

It remains to be seen whether Musk’s Vision of a maximum truth-seeking AI will become a reality, as he has a history of making grandiose plans and failing to deliver. That being said, given his track record and wealth of experience, it would come as no surprise if Elon Musk were to be successful in this endeavor.

Elon Musk is one of the most acclaimed entrepreneurs of the modern era. Having made his unlimited boundless from his early successes in the tech industry such as co-founding PayPal and Tesla, Musk has become one of the wealthiest and most influential figures in the world. His recent efforts in establishing SpaceX, the aerospace manufacturer and space transportation services company, have pushed Musk’s impact in the technological world even further. In addition to this, Musk has also been an active voice when it comes to discussing AI technology, with his recent push for government regulation just being the latest example of his dedication to the issue.

OpenAI is an AI research laboratory co-founded in 2015 by Musk and a group of tech titans such as Sam Altman and Greg Brockman. The aim of the venture was to advance digital intelligence by promoting technologies such as generative models, profoundly transformative AI applications, and AI-enhanced products. While OpenAI has seen some successes, most recently being awarded the ScottishPower Innovator of the Year award in 2020, it appears that Musk has distanced himself from the venture due to its “politically correct” and “woke” AI models as well as its move to a for-profit, closed-source model.
