Hyderabad to Become India’s AI Capital with Dedicated City and Pharma Clusters, Announces Governor

AI City in Hyderabad, New Industrial Policy Soon: Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan

The Congress government in Hyderabad has announced plans to establish a dedicated Artificial Intelligence (AI) City in the state. The AI City, which will span over 50-100 acres, aims to position Hyderabad as the ‘AI capital’ of India. This initiative was revealed by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan during her address to the joint session of the Legislative Assembly and Council on the first day of the Budget session.

In addition to the AI City, the governor also announced the establishment of 10-12 pharma clusters in 1,000-3,000 acres of land, ensuring they are set up far away from human habitations. These measures are part of the government’s focus on the industry and service sectors.

To support these sectors, Governor Soundararajan emphasized the need for a new industrial policy that aligns with global best practices. The state aims to become a role model where investors, both new and existing, face minimal hurdles during entry, operations, and future expansion. The government is committed to providing a conducive environment for businesses to flourish.

Moreover, the government has made two significant guarantees – providing gas cylinders at Rs 500 for eligible families and offering free power up to 200 units. These promises will be implemented in the near future, ensuring affordable and accessible energy resources for the people.

Governor Soundararajan also highlighted the importance of rebuilding key institutions in the state. Efforts will be made to restore the core values of transparency, accessibility, and adherence to constitutional principles within institutions that have faced challenges in the past. Institutions such as TSPSC, TSHRC, State Information Commission, and universities will be given due importance to function responsibly.

In line with the focus on industries and job creation, the government has developed a new MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) policy, which aims to recruit skilled manpower. Additionally, a comprehensive energy policy will be introduced to promote various types of green energy, including solar, wind, hybrid, and storage solutions.

The government will also formulate a new tourism policy to boost the tourism sector’s growth. To further support skill development, all government ITIs (Industrial Training Institutes) will be transformed into advanced technology centers at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore. This investment will benefit approximately one lakh youth by providing them with enhanced technological skills.

As Hyderabad strives to become the AI capital of India, these initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to fostering innovation, attracting investment, and creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive. The establishment of the AI City and pharma clusters, along with the implementation of new policies and guarantees, will contribute to the advancement and growth of the state’s economy.
