SpecterOps Secures $25 Million for Attack Path Analysis to Offer Insight Into Hacker Tactics

Date:

SpecterOps, a provider of adversary simulation, detection and training services, announced they have raised $25 million as part of a series A funding round led by Decibel. The capital was raised to make the platform they created, BloodHound Enterprise, available to Microsoft Active Directory (AD) and Azure AD. Its purpose is to analyze attack paths within the organizational environment to better identify threats and vulnerabilities.

Attack path analysis can help security teams discover attack paths that might normally not be seen by comprehensively analyzing the power of technology and potential threats. To use an example, if a threat actor has access to an employee’s account and can reset their password, attack path analysis can help organizations better identify and prevent possible escalation of access within their environments.

SpecterOps have made their platform available to compete agaisnt similar solutions that are out there – such as Tenable’s attack path management. Tenable raised $683.2 million in revenue last year. What makes SpecterOps’ approach unique is its ability to not only provide long lists of misconfigurations but also prioritize which is most relevant and provide practical guidance in remediation.

CEO of SpecterOps, David McGuire, spoke about the importance of their platform, saying “Once an attacker has access to a network (maybe from a phishing email or getting an employee’s credentials from a data breach) they can use attack paths to move through the network and gain more access to deploy ransomware, steal sensitive data, conduct cyber espionage, or otherwise reach their final objective.”

To learn more about how SpecterOps’ platform can help organizations identify potential attack paths and vulnerabilities, top executives are invited to join in San Francisco on July 11 – 12 and hear about how leaders are integrating and optimizing AI investments.
