Oracle Introduces New Cloud Computing Service with Built-in Generative AI

Texas-based software giant Oracle recently announced the launch of its latest global cloud computing offering, which includes a built-in generative AI system. Known as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Generative AI, this system is specifically designed for enterprise use and features two large language models (LLMs) named Meta’s Llama 2 and Cohere. These LLMs cater to a wide range of business needs, including customer service, marketing, product development, and cybersecurity.

Similar to everyday users employing ChatGPT or other LLMs for data analysis and coding, enterprises can now leverage OCI Generative AI for assistance. For instance, customer service departments can use the models to automatically record and transcribe phone conversations or collect customer feedback data for future improvement.

Oracle positions this service as a comprehensive toolkit that enables enterprises to solve business problems in a smarter, faster, and more cost-effective manner. The company recognizes that many companies were initially hesitant to use OpenAI’s ChatGPT due to concerns about data exposure. To address this issue, Oracle developed its own system, ensuring that client data remains confidential and not shared with anyone, including other clients.

The OCI Generative AI service will eventually support around 100 languages and can be utilized both in the Oracle Cloud and on-premises, provided there are Oracle data centers in the respective regions. Currently, Oracle operates two data centers in Korea, located in Seoul and Chuncheon, Gangwon.

In addition to OCI Generative AI, Oracle has also introduced the beta version of OCI Generative AI Agent. This advanced iteration goes beyond traditional LLMs and allows agents to autonomously access and train themselves using enterprise data, enabling them to perform more sophisticated applications. This is made possible through Oracle’s Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) technology, which facilitates rapid learning from enterprise data, leading to continuous improvement in machine learning capabilities.

The introduction of Oracle’s new cloud computing service with built-in generative AI showcases the company’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of enterprises. By offering enhanced data privacy and a full-stack approach, Oracle aims to provide advanced solutions for text generation, summarization, and semantic similarity tasks. With this innovative offering, Oracle enables businesses to address their unique challenges while leveraging the power of generative AI.
