Iowa Program Adds Derivita Math Resources to Bolster STEM Curricula
Digital mathematics platform company Derivita has been selected as one of 14 providers for the Iowa Governor’s STEM Scale-Up Program. The program, facilitated by the Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council and the Iowa Department of Education, aims to enhance STEM education in the state by offering free access to STEM programs and resources.
The Iowa STEM Scale-Up Program provides Iowa educators with the opportunity to integrate STEM programs and resources into their existing curricula, helping to enhance teaching practices and provide professional development. The program is open to a wide range of educators, including PreK-12 public and private school cross-curricular educators, youth education leaders, informal education professionals, home school associations, and individuals.
Derivita’s inclusion in the program means that Iowa educators will have access to the company’s innovative digital mathematics platform. With its 6-12 Math Courseware program, Derivita aims to transform the way teachers and students engage with mathematics. The platform offers a library of mathematical tasks and more, providing a comprehensive and interactive learning experience.
To support educators in the application process, Derivita will be hosting office hours throughout January and every Thursday in February at 4 p.m. CST. These sessions will offer educators the opportunity to seek assistance and have their questions answered.
In addition to Derivita’s math program, the Iowa STEM Scale-Up Program will include resources from 13 other providers in the 2024-25 school year. These resources cover diverse topics such as AI, coding, agriculture, robotics, physics/chemistry, and various STEAM subjects. The program aims to provide a well-rounded STEM education to students across the state.
Educators interested in participating in the program for the 2024-25 school year can submit their applications until February 28, 2024. A diverse range of educators are encouraged to apply, and successful applicants will be notified in late Spring 2024.
Derivita’s senior manager of school and district partnerships, Dog Sovde, expressed excitement about the partnership with the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council and the Iowa Department of Education. Sovde believes that this collaboration will create opportunities for teachers and students in Iowa to access Derivita and revolutionize their perspectives on mathematics.
The Iowa Governor’s STEM Scale-Up Program is poised to have a significant impact on STEM education in Iowa. By offering free access to cutting-edge resources and programs, the program aims to inspire and empower both educators and students to excel in STEM fields.
