Oracle Launches Fully Managed Generative AI Service for Businesses

Date:

Oracle has announced the launch of its fully managed service for generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), available through the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The OCI Generative AI service offers a range of features to address business use cases, including large language models from Cohere and Llama 2 from Meta. The platform also provides multilingual capabilities, an improved GPU cluster management experience, and flexible fine-tuning options.

One of the advantages of our Generative AI service is that it offers pre-built services and features that work together to help customers solve business problems in a smarter and faster way, said Greg Pavlik, Senior Vice President of AI and Data Management at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

In addition to the OCI Generative AI service, Oracle is introducing the OCI Generative AI Agents service, featuring a retrieval augmented generation (RAG) agent. This approach optimizes the output of large language models by generating more targeted information based on specific domains, without modifying the underlying model. By combining the capabilities of large language models and enterprise search built on OCI OpenSearch, the OCI Generative AI Agents service provides contextualized results that are enhanced with enterprise data.

Furthermore, Oracle is expanding the capabilities of OCI Data Science to assist customers in building, training, deploying, and managing large language models. The OCI Data Science AI Quick Actions feature, which will be available in beta next month, allows no-code access to a variety of open-source large language models, including leading providers such as Meta and Mistral AI.

Oracle’s fully managed service for generative artificial intelligence competes directly with Amazon’s Bedrock platform, which also offers foundational models accessible via API for users to build and scale their generative AI applications.

With the introduction of these services, Oracle aims to provide a comprehensive suite of generative AI solutions to help businesses solve complex challenges more efficiently. The company’s focus on pre-built services and features, along with multilingual capabilities and flexible fine-tuning options, demonstrates its commitment to delivering powerful and user-friendly tools in the field of artificial intelligence.

As the demand for AI continues to grow, Oracle’s fully managed service for generative artificial intelligence provides businesses with the resources they need to harness the potential of this technology and drive innovation in various industries. Whether it is through the Oracle Cloud or the OCI Dedicated Region, customers can benefit from the advanced capabilities of the OCI Generative AI service and improve their business outcomes.
