As more consumers are turning to the newly available ChatGPT artificial intelligence chatbot for health advice, researchers from the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) conducted a study to determine whether the information from the chatbot is reliable and accurate. The study tested 25 questions related to getting screened for breast cancer with positive results overall. The chatbot generated correct advice for 22 out of the 25 questions, with one of its answers being based on outdated information and two questions generating inconsistent responses.
