Nvidia has struck a $1 billion deal with Indian datacenter operators to boost their artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities with tens of thousands of GPUs. Yotta, an Indian bit-barn company, plans to deploy 32,000 Nvidia H100 and H200 GPUs by 2025. Yotta CEO, Sunil Gupta, stated that approximately 16,000 GPUs will be delivered in July for deployment at their AI-focused datacenter in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City. Yotta predicts that machine-learning adoption in India will reach $14 billion by the end of the decade, but this growth is dependent on the availability of infrastructure, particularly American-made accelerators such as Nvidia’s. Nvidia’s expansion in India is significant as it faces restrictions on selling high-end datacenter GPUs in China. These restrictions have prompted Nvidia to develop export-compliant accelerators below the export limits specified by the US government. Despite these challenges, Nvidia remains optimistic about the demand for AI accelerators worldwide and expects limited impact on its financial results.
