Baidu’s Chinese AI Chatbot, Ernie Bot, Surpasses 100 Million Users in Record Time, China

Baidu’s Chinese-language chatbot, Ernie Bot, has surpassed 100 million users, the company announced on Thursday. The stock prices of Baidu also experienced a 3.5% surge to reach $118.41. Haifeng Wang, Baidu’s chief technology officer, revealed this milestone at a deep-learning developer conference in Beijing. Ernie Bot, equipped with Baidu’s Ernie 4.0 large language model, demonstrated its prowess by generating 3.7 billion words of workplace text, writing 300 million lines of code, processing 400 million words of contracts, and creating 5 million travel itineraries since its release in August. Baidu’s PaddlePaddle deep learning development platform, which has attracted over 10.7 million developers, with 860,000 models created, also received an update. Ernie Bot’s proficiency primarily lies in Chinese, limiting access for English-speaking users.
