Recent reports suggest that Elon Musk, co-founder of the popular AI firm OpenAI, is creating a new startup to compete with his own company. Musk is said to be bringing together talented AI researchers and engineers and has met with current investors from SpaceX and Tesla to secure funding. This initiative places Musk on the same level as tech giants such as Google and Microsoft in the race to develop advanced artificial intelligence technology.
In addition to creating his AI firm, Musk has also shifted the name of Twitter to “X Corp” in corporate documents, while simultaneously launching an organization called X (X.AI). Musk is ultimately attempting to launch an “everything app” under the “X” brand as part of a large-scale AI project.
10,000 GPUs from Twitter are also said to be involved in the large-scale AI project, which Musk has procured for AI purposes.
However, Musk is one of over 2,600 tech professionals and researchers who signed an open letter in March, advocating for a temporary halt on AI development. The letter highlighted the numerous risks that arise from advanced artificial intelligence.
Despite this setback, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has taken steps to make generative AI more accessible in its Bedrock program, demonstrating that many companies are taking advantage of the technology and actively creating AI capabilities.
