Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to unveil a series of groundbreaking projects and initiatives at the upcoming GITEX 2023 event. With a focus on improving public transport, enhancing efficiency, and maximizing customer satisfaction, these initiatives promise to revolutionize the transportation landscape in Dubai.
One of the most exciting innovations showcased by the RTA is a facial recognition payment system for metro fares. This state-of-the-art system enables passengers to make payments without the need for tickets, Nol cards, or credit cards. By registering and analyzing users’ 3D facial features, the system can directly process payments from their accounts, streamlining transactions and reducing the reliance on cash payments.
Furthermore, the RTA is introducing a transfer service for vehicle number plate ownership through the RTA Dubai Drive app. By leveraging the digital ID UAE PASS, users can complete ownership transfer procedures without visiting RTA service centers. Through this convenient and secure process, customers can register within the system, sign sales contracts electronically, and enjoy a seamless experience.
Additionally, the RTA, in collaboration with the private sector, will showcase a model of the world’s first 3D-printed electric Abra. This eco-friendly watercraft, designed to preserve the heritage identity of the traditional Abra, can accommodate up to 20 passengers and is powered by electric motors. By adopting 3D printing technology, the RTA aims to significantly reduce manufacturing time and costs while aligning with its commitment to environmental sustainability.
The RTA has also harnessed the power of artificial intelligence and big data to develop an innovative model for predicting parking occupancy. By analyzing millions of parking reservation and inspection transactions, this AI-powered system can forecast parking occupancy rates up to two weeks in advance, offering real-time data to help customers plan their trips effectively.
Moreover, the RTA will unveil its smart kiosk, a comprehensive platform for monitoring and managing the operations of soft mobility service providers. With features like driver risk measurement, passenger movement monitoring, and a congestion index, this smart kiosk aims to enhance the efficiency of transportation services in Dubai.
