Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President, Faruque Hassan, recently urged graduates to equip themselves with the necessary knowledge and skills to meet the evolving demands of global markets. In an era dominated by disruptive technologies and artificial intelligence, Hassan emphasized the need for graduates to adapt to the changing job market landscape.
Speaking at the ‘BUFT International Model United Nations 2023’ conference held at BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT), Hassan highlighted the importance of gaining knowledge in innovative technologies, particularly in relation to addressing climate change. He recognized the significant threat posed by climate change to the planet and stressed the need for young talents to contribute to the sustainability of Bangladesh’s apparel industry.
Hassan applauded Bangladesh’s achievement of having the highest number of green garment factories in the world, with 203 factories already certified green by the US Green Building Council. He reaffirmed the industry’s commitment to advancing sustainability and the circular economy, with graduates playing a crucial role in driving these efforts forward.
Addressing the youth as a valuable resource, he emphasized their ability to shape a better world through their ideas, determination, and visionary outlook. Hassan encouraged graduates to unlock their potential and contribute both to their personal growth and the prosperity of Bangladesh.
The conference was attended by various dignitaries, including the Pro-Vice Chancellor of BUFT, Ayub Nabi Khan, the Head of the United Nations Information Center (UNIC), Dr. Md. Moniruzzaman, and the Chief of Mission from the International Organization for Migration-UN Migration, Abdussattor Esoev, along with faculties and students from BUFT.
