Three Lessons Microsoft Can Teach Apple After Bringing ChaptGPT to iPhone

Date:

Out of all the tech companies focusing their efforts into AI, one stands out above the rest due to its consistent push for more widespread integrations, Microsoft. Their latest integrations include access to their AI-powered chatbot, ChaptGPT, through their SwiftKey keyboard app, now available for iOS devices.

The SwiftKey app offers users three functions: Search, Chat, and Tone. The first two are pretty straightforward; users can either search the web or ask Bing questions within the app. But the third feature, the Tone, is where the real magic lies. Bing can play the role of an editor and can reword text to fit a chosen desired tone, be it more professional, casual, or polite.

The Tone capability is what makes Microsoft stand out. Its versatility can be used for many different purposes, such as suggesting new restaurants to friends on the go, double-checking a fact mid-conversation, or simply to check the weather before making a plan. Moreover, to access the Tone and Chat functions, users are required to log in via a Microsoft Account that can access the new Bing.

It is not unexpected to see Apple slightly behind the curve with AI technology, yet there are still a few things they can learn from Microsoft. One example is the File Explorer, a key element of the Windows Operating System that has not seen many changes since its release decades ago. The stability of the File Explorer gives users a sense of familiarity and ease when using it, something that Apple should take into consideration.

Another thing Apple could take away from Microsoft is the Magic Mouse – although fashionable, its charging port on the bottom can be inefficient, especially when you need it the most. Maybe Apple could learn from Microsoft’s functional and not so expensive peripherals, such as the Adaptive Accessories that prioritize functionality over design. This type of peripheral allows for everyone, no matter the disability, to use it, something Apple has yet to achieve.

In the end, Microsoft proves that you don’t have to be late to the game, thanks to its investment into chatbot technology. They have a large and valuable following and Apple will have to catch up if they ever want to compete.

Overall, Microsoft has earned its place in the tech world and have been successful in both innovation, accessibility, and functional peripherals. There is no doubt that there is much Apple can learn from Microsoft, and it would be great to see both companies working together in the future.
