Microsoft is launching a self-service trial for Teams Premium, a subscription service that offers advanced AI-powered features. This trial, exclusively available to business customers, will allow companies to explore the capabilities of Teams Premium without committing to a paid license. During the 30-day trial period, businesses can equip up to 25 users with access to features such as intelligent meeting recaps, virtual appointments, and personalized management tools.
The trial will be rolled out in late September and will not be available for Government customers. Users within an organization can initiate the trial using their Azure Active Directory (AAD)/Entra ID credentials without providing payment information. Admins will have control over whether the trials convert to paid licenses, and there is no auto-renew functionality. If a user wishes to upgrade to the paid subscription, they will need to collaborate with the admin to do so.
To prepare for the arrival of Teams Premium trials, admins can access self-service purchase controls to disable self-service trials while managing trial licenses through the Microsoft 365 admin center.
Teams Premium, first announced at Microsoft Ignite in October 2022, aims to deliver more personalized, intelligent, and secure meetings. It introduces next-gen technologies, including Large Language Models powered by OpenAI’s GPT-3.5.
One of the key features of Teams Premium is Intelligent Recap, which automatically generates meeting notes, recommended tasks, and personalized highlights even for users who did not attend the meeting. The feature also divides the meeting into sections to facilitate catching up. Additionally, Teams Premium allows users to personalize meetings with their organization’s branding, and IT admins can create customized meeting templates.
Teams Premium also offers advanced meeting protection, including confidentiality and security safeguards, watermark capabilities to deter leaks, and the ability to limit who can record the discussion.
Despite being launched in general availability in February, Teams Premium has already gained over 600,000 users, according to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
The self-service trial for Teams Premium will enable businesses to experience its advanced features and decide whether to invest in the full, paid licenses. By providing access to AI-powered capabilities like intelligent meeting recaps and virtual appointments, Teams Premium aims to make Teams meetings more intelligent, protected, and engaging for business users.
