Utah-based company AEGIX has partnered with ZeroEyes to use artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the fight against school shootings. AEGIX, which provides resources, technology, equipment, and training for first responders, will combine its offerings with ZeroEyes’ AI-based gun detection video analytics platform to enhance school safety measures.
The collaboration aims to prevent school shootings by leveraging AI technology to detect guns as soon as they are brandished. This allows schools and first responders to be alerted before any shots are fired. The partnership has already been implemented in several districts, including the Salt Lake City School District and the Salt Lake City Police Department.
The Utah State Board of Education has awarded AEGIX a $3 million contract to expand the use of ZeroEyes’ technology in more school districts across the state. The board will present the technology to all Utah school districts for consideration, with interested districts acquiring the software from AEGIX and receiving full onboarding, training, installation, and support services.
The technology will be integrated into AEGIX’s AIM active incident management platform, which enables individuals to quickly notify others of a crisis. For instance, teachers can alert administrators and first responders about their safety status during an active shooter scenario.
ZeroEyes’ AI gun detection and situational awareness software will provide real-time information about threats, including visual descriptions, gun types, and last known locations. This data will be shared with local school staff and law enforcement within seconds of detection, improving response times and potentially saving lives.
AEGIX aims to create a sole-source solution for Utah’s public schools by integrating ZeroEyes’ technology into its AIM system. By bringing together cutting-edge AI technology and comprehensive incident response capabilities, AEGIX and ZeroEyes hope to protect students and faculty members throughout the state.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to school safety and the prevention of gun-related violence. By leveraging AI technology and the expertise of military and law enforcement veterans, AEGIX and ZeroEyes aim to enhance security measures and provide a proactive defense against active shooters.
With the support of the grant from the Utah State Board of Education, AEGIX and ZeroEyes hope to make a lasting impact on school safety throughout the state. By expanding the reach of this advanced AI technology, they aim to create a safer environment for students, teachers, and staff across Utah’s public schools.
