Date:

China-based marketing and public relations agency BlueFocus has announced its plan to make a revolutionary shift towards the use of generative AI such as ChatGPT, replacing third-party copy writers, designers, and short-term contractors. Ranked as the 11th largest public relations agency globally and first among Chinese competitors in 2022, BlueFocus has been leveraging its relationship with Microsoft, the parent company of OpenAI, the developer of the popular ChatGPT conversational AI platform. Along with Microsoft’s cloud service, BlueFocus is gaining access to Bing, which could enable them to make use of the AI-based search engine for their marketing purposes. Additionally, the agency has applied for access to Alibaba Group’s Tongyi Qianwen AI chatbot.

The potential of ChatGPT-like technology has been recognized globally and has major implications relating to the future of the workforce. Goldman Sachs’ economists have predicted that AI might replace as much as a quarter of current tasks and jobs, especially in office administration and legal services. India is no exception, as the global technology company Zoho’s CEO and co-founder Sridhar Vembu has voiced his concerns on the potential threat of AI to a number of programming jobs. He has specifically highlighted the complexity and depth of this advanced technology which could slowly edge out the need for some of the programmers currently employed in the industry.

BlueFocus is one of the first Chinese agency to make such a bold move towards incorporating AI for their marketing efforts. With its world class capabilities, the agency has the potential to outperform its competitors and gradually shift to a more digitalized system of operations. The replacement of third party copy-writers and designers and the incorporation of ChatGPT-like technology could potentially lead to a more cost and time efficient approach to the business.
