Japanese family arrested in Hokkaido for shocking decapitation and body theft
A family of three has been arrested in Hokkaido, Japan, for a gruesome crime involving the decapitation of a man and the theft of his head. The victim, 62-year-old Hitoshi Ura, was found in a love hotel in Susukino, a red-light district in Sapporo City. The suspects, identified as Runa Tamura, 29, her father Osamu Tamura, who is a psychiatrist, and her mother, were apprehended by the police on charges of mutilation of a corpse, theft, and disposal of a body.
The shocking incident came to light when the victim’s body was discovered in a hotel room on July 2. It is believed that Ura had attended a disco event popular among members of the LGBT community before checking into the love hotel. Love hotels are known for renting out rooms by the hour or nightly and are often used for sexual activities.
Investigators revealed that security camera footage from the hotel showed the victim entering the premises with someone carrying a large suitcase. Ura checked in with his companion late at night on July 1, and later that night, a person was captured leaving with the same large suitcase. The police suspect that Runa Tamura’s father dropped her off and picked her up from the hotel. The footage also indicated the presence of two women checking into the hotel. Ura, known as a cross-dresser who frequently visited bars and clubs in the red-light district, was acquainted with Runa Tamura.
According to statements from the grandfather of the suspect, the motive behind the crime might be an unwanted sexual encounter. After an alleged assault, Ura promised the grandfather never to see Runa again. However, Ura’s alleged attempt to meet the suspect may have triggered the events that unfolded. The family, upon learning about the assault, decided not to involve law enforcement and settled the matter themselves.
It was reported that Runa Tamura was identified as the person seen with the victim at the hotel through interviews conducted with local stores and restaurants in Susukino. The victim, a married man with a family, was well-respected in his community. His wife filed a missing persons report on July 3, which led to the identification of the body by the police and family.
