Adobe has unveiled a new AI feature called Generative Expand, which allows users to effortlessly expand and resize images beyond their original aspect ratios. Powered by the Firefly-based technology as Generative Fill, this innovative tool enables users to seamlessly modify any image by using the Crop tool in Adobe Photoshop.
By simply clicking Generate, the empty space in an image can be filled with AI-generated content that seamlessly blends with the original image. This streamlined workflow empowers users to create and ideate in Photoshop with Generative AI more efficiently and intuitively than ever before.
According to Adobe, Generative Expand is particularly useful in scenarios where subjects are cut off, images lack the desired aspect ratio, or objects within a focus are misaligned with other elements. With this AI-powered feature, users can now expand their canvas and transform their images to match their vivid imaginations.
What’s more, users have the flexibility to add generated content with or without a text prompt. When clicking Generate in the Contextual Task Bar without a prompt, Photoshop will automatically fill in the newly expanded space with AI-generated content that seamlessly blends with the existing image.
However, if users choose to include a text prompt, they can enter specific content that aligns with their creative vision. The expanded image will then be generated, incorporating the entered content. Users can select their preferred variation, and the expanded image will be added non-destructively in a new Generative Layer.
Adobe emphasizes that Generative Expand enables users to spend less time on tedious editing tasks and more time experimenting and adapting images to suit their unique creative needs.
Additionally, Adobe announces that Firefly-powered features in Photoshop (beta) will now support text prompts in over 100 languages. This development ensures that users from around the world can easily bring their creative vision to life by providing text prompts in their preferred language.
